Headteacher’s Memo – May 07, 2026
Dear Parent/Carer,
As we approach SATs week, there is a real sense of purpose around the school. Pupils have been working hard in class and staff have been ensuring that everyone feels prepared, supported and reassured. Alongside revision and practice, we continue to emphasise calm routines, positivity and balance, so that our children can approach the week ahead feeling ready to do their very best. Year 6 parents have received a separate letter detailing the timetable and locations for our Year 6 pupils that week.
This week’s assembly focused on the importance of understanding and managing our emotions. The children explored how feelings can change throughout the day, learned practical strategies for expressing themselves positively, and were reminded that it is always okay to ask for help. These conversations are an essential part of supporting wellbeing and helping our pupils develop resilience, empathy and confidence—skills that will serve them well both in school and beyond.
The following pupils have been commended for dealing well with their emotions:
-
Reception = Maeve – for recognising she felt sad and using different strategies in class to try and help her feel more settled in class.
-
Year 1/ 2 =Gaddeil – for speaking to an adult about how he was feeling when he found something difficult.
-
Year 3/ 4 = Dominik – for speaking to an adult and recognising his emotions when he felt upset
-
Year 5/6 = Eleanor – for coping well with big and potentially overwhelming feelings after her swimming lesson this week.
Secret Students
A student is chosen anonymously and randomly at the start of each school day. The class teacher will then monitor the positive behaviour of the secret student throughout the day and that student is named if they have demonstrated our school values throughout the day.
The secret students who were celebrated in our celebration assembly this week were:
Reception – Amalia, Elijah, Rena, Maeve
Year 1/2 – Alex, Luna, Theo, April
Year 3/4 – Erica, Lily, Nikola, Alannah
Year 5/6 – Thomas
Well done to you all!
Examples of good work this week…
