Staff are challenging each other to sell as many of their cakes as they can in line with the theme of this year's event. The cakes will be sold at the gates or in the main hall in the event of poor weather.
Head Lice
While head lice are nothing more than a nuisance, it is important that children are checked on a weekly basis so that any head lice can be dealt with quickly and before they are allowed to spread too far. Follow the simple CHECK, TREAT, COMPLETE routine below to ensure you are doing your bit to keep head lice outbreaks to a minimum. If head lice are proving tricky to get rid of, please contact your pharmacist.

If not, please do not hesitate to contact the class teacher to book your time. Further information can be found on this link: Pupil Asset: Parents Portal overview – Juniper Education (New)
Safeguarding
Online Safety
It has been brought to our attention that many pupils engage with games where they are exposed to violence and other players through chat facilities. This can pose a risk to both well-being and safety. Please see below the advice given to parents from the NSPCC:
Advice for parents of under 5s
- Supervise use - We recommend this age group only have supervised access to technology. This means that they should only be using technology when fully supported by a parent or carer.
- Use family devices, accounts and services – Use child friendly devices and services like children’s tablets and child versions of popular video sites.
- Check content first – Check the content on apps and games each time before use and turn off features like ‘autoplay’ so you can be in control of what is shown next.
- Set up your parental controls – make use of safety settings across your home Wi-Fi, devices and accounts. You can find out more by visiting our parental controls page.
- Start safety conversations - it’s important to start talking about safety online as soon as your child is using technology. Visit our Techosaurus page for age-appropriate resources.
- Establish healthy habits - Make technology use purposeful from a young age by making sure it’s playing a positive role in your family. You can do this by watching and enjoying age-appropriate online videos together.
Advice for parents of children under 10 years old
- Enable access to devices with limited features - Device usage at this age is best kept to devices with limited capability. This could include tablets without data and non-smart phones that only allow calls and texts.
- Keep tech use visible in the home - Try to keep tech use in shared family spaces or used with bedroom doors open. This will allow you to support your child and be more aware of what they are doing online.
- Follow age ratings – Apps, sites and games come with age ratings which are important to follow. You can find out the age rating on the website for the platform or by visiting Common Sense Media’s reviews.
- Use safety settings – Explore the in-app and device safety settings with your child and check them regularly to make sure they are still in place.
- Revisit parental controls – as children grow up and need the internet more for schoolwork you may want to adjust your parental controls. Keep checking these regularly to make sure they are in place.
- Have regular safety conversations – at this age online safety conversations should be happening regularly. Visit our advice on talking to your child about online safety.
- Build healthy habits - acknowledge the positives it brings as part of your safety conversations and agree rules and boundaries together as a family.
Notices
- Please can you be reminded that children bringing in scooters and bicycles should walk them when they pass the main school gates for safety reasons.
- Please can you ensure that your child/ren come to school in full school uniform, if you need help with this, we have been donated lots of uniform or can assist in getting funds to help support you with this.

Mental Health Day 10th October 2025
At Sacred Heart, we are committed to ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive.
Meet Our Mental Health Support Team
At Sacred Heart, we know that a child’s emotional well-being is just as important as their physical health and academic progress. That’s why we’re proud to be working closely with our local Mental Health Support Team (MHST).
The MHST is here to help children feel safe, supported, and understood - both at home and at school. Their friendly and experienced practitioners work with families to support children who may be feeling anxious, worried about school, or finding it hard to be away from home.
They also offer guidance to parents and carers on managing behaviour in positive ways - such as setting clear boundaries, using praise effectively, and improving communication at home.
In addition to working with individual families, the team supports our whole school community. They offer one-off consultations and run helpful workshops for parents, staff, and pupils on topics like:
- Understanding anxiety
- Promoting well-being
- Navigating friendships
If you’re concerned about your child’s mental health or emotional well-being, please don’t hesitate to speak to a member of our school staff. We can help you access the support available through the MHST.
For more information, please see the attached flyers with more information about the team and how they can support you and your child.
Notices
- Please can you be reminded that children bringing in scooters and bicycles should walk them when they pass the main school gates for safety reasons.
- Please can you ensure that your child/ren come to school in full school uniform, if you need help with this we have been donated lots of uniform or can assist in getting funds to help support you with this.

At Sacred Heart, we are committed to ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive. Over the last two weeks, our leadership team have been working closely with class teachers to develop brand new Support Plans and Behaviour Plans for pupils with additional needs.
As part of this process, we’ll be reaching out to parents and carers to gather your valuable insights and ensure your voice is reflected in your child's plan. Once finalised, you’ll receive a copy outlining the specific provisions in place to support your child in class.
We look forward to working in partnership with you to create a learning environment where every child feels understood, supported, and empowered."
We will shortly be able to share the following new school policies that are currently being viewed by our Governing Body:
- Behaviour Policy
- Safeguarding Policy
- Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Policy and 2025 Information Report

Secret Students
A student is chosen anonymously and randomly at the start of each school day. The class teacher will then monitor the positive behaviour of the secret student throughout the day and that student is named if they have demonstrated our school values throughout the day.
The secret students who were celebrated in our celebration assembly this week were:
Year 1/2 – Theo, Oliver and Skoll
Year 3/4 - Layla-Jo and Mia
Year 5/6 – Maryanne and Thomas
Well done to you all for demonstrating good, positive behaviours.
