Headteachers Monthly Newsletter – October 22nd, 2025
Dear Parent/Carer
As we reach the end of a whirlwind half-term, I want to extend my sincere thanks for your continued support. Our school is working tirelessly to improve across all areas, and we value the vital role parents play in our journey. Your partnership is helping us raise standards, and we’re already seeing positive changes for the vast majority of pupils with uniform, learning, and behaviour for learning. Your reinforcement of our high expectations at home is making a real difference.
Looking ahead to next term, we wish to bring the school and community together through a series of key events. One initiative we’re particularly looking forward to launching is our new ‘Friends of Sacred Heart’ group. This will be a fantastic opportunity for parents to get involved in school life by volunteering to support fundraising efforts and events. We hope many of you will consider joining us.
It’s also encouraging to hear feedback from external visitors who have noted the calm, purposeful atmosphere in school and the focused work being done to support pupils in both their learning and behaviour. While we’re proud of the progress made, we know there is still much to do; particularly in embedding new teaching practices and making the most of the assessment data gathered during our recent successful assessment week.

Staff Changes
There will be a few staff changes as we begin the new half-term. Mr Davies will be joining our Reception class following a successful trial day. He brings valuable experience and will be a welcome addition to the team. Miss Knight will be moving to support the Year 5/6 class, where her skills will continue to benefit our pupils.
We recognise that changes in staffing can sometimes feel unsettling for children. Please be assured that any decisions we make are carefully considered and always in the best interests of the children. To support those directly affected, we will be using social stories to help explain the changes in a way that is clear and reassuring.
Safeguarding
- Children’s ‘Spy’ Books – We want to make you aware of a recent issue affecting some popular children’s books by Andrew Cope. These books include, ‘Spy Dogs’, ‘Spy Cats’, and ‘Spy Pups’. Some editions of these books include a printed web address at the back. This link used to go to the author’s website, but the domain is no longer under his control and now leads to inappropriate adult content. The publisher, Puffin, has paused sales and distribution of the books and is working with schools, libraries and retailers to remove copies from circulation. We have checked our library and have no copies of these books in school.
If your child has any books from the series, please check the back for website links and make sure they do not try to visit the site. It is safe for children to continue reading the stories themselves.
Notices
- Parents are reminded that they do not need to use the telecom system at the gate unless it is to collect a child for an appointment, or you have been asked to collect their child during lesson time. This helps us keep the entrance secure and minimises disruption to learning.
- Please can you be reminded that children bringing in scooters and bicycles should walk them when they pass the main school gates for safety reasons.
- Please ensure that your child comes to school in full school uniform each day. If you need support with this, we have a selection of donated uniform available, and we may be able to assist with funding where needed.
- We are in the early stages of setting up a ‘Friends of Sacred Heart’ group. If you would be interested in supporting the school through events and fundraising, please email the school office to express your interest.
- We have a selection of Poppies and various other poppy related items available for a donation next term. Members of the Student Council will be going around to each class when we return. Please ensure your child has money on them if you wish for them to something.
- New Lunch Menu is available from 3rd November. A copy will be attached.
- Finally, please note that school photographs will take place on Tuesday 11th November.
Have a great Half term!
Kind Regards
Mr James Headteacher
